Borrowers who are served with a summons of foreclosure on their home need to take timely action to respond to the summons. Contacting the lender is NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Responding to a summons means the person on their own (pro se) or with the assistance of an attorney must contact the court in writing with a response to the summons. While it is appropriate to contact your lender about the foreclosure, it is even more important to contact the court. For those wishing to keep their home you should be contacting an attorney, or legal aid if you cannot afford one, to obtain advice and assistance on how to respond to the summons.
