Rodgers & Hammerstein 80th Anniversary

Friday, May 31, at 9pm on ThinkTV16 and CET

Celebrate 80 years of collaboration between Broadway legends Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, this special concert from Great Performances features an all-star cast at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane, including Michael Ball, Daniel Dae Kim, Maria Friedman, Audra McDonald, Julian Ovenden and more.

Beginning with their first collaboration on Oklahoma! in 1943, Rodgers and Hammerstein revolutionized Broadway by integrating music and dance with well-crafted storylines to create a cohesive new form of musical theater. With a string of blockbusters including Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, Flower Drum Song and The Sound of Music, the duo garnered 34 Tony Awards along with 15 Academy Awards for their film adaptations.

Elton John – The Million Dollar Piano

Celebrate the legendary singer, songwriter and performer in a spectacular 2012 concert at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. The centerpiece of the concert was the show’s namesake piano, an engineering marvel featuring more than 68 LED video screens created by Yamaha. The state-of-the-art piano – nearly four years in the making – provided the perfect accompaniment to Elton’s greatest hits, displaying fantastical imagery to complement the entertainer’s fan favorites.

Elton and his band put on an unforgettable show, which included much-loved classic hits from throughout his career, including “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting),” “I’m Still Standing,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” “Crocodile Rock” and “Your Song.”

Hosted by Tre Twitty, Conway Twitty’s grandson, and Tayla Lynn, Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter, this special looks back at some of the great country music duet performers of all time, from George Jones and Tammy Wynette to Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner to Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. Performances include “If Teardrops Were Pennies,” “We’re Not the Jet Set,” “Louisiana Women, Mississippi Man” and “After the Fire is Gone.”

Judy Collins: Wildflowers in Concert

Filmed before a live audience at Town Hall in New York City, this special features the legendary folk singer performing her groundbreaking 1967 album, “Wildflowers”. Songs include “Since You Asked,” “Sky Fell,” “Albatross” and Judy’s chart-topping rendition on Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now.” Judy closes the concert with one of her signature songs, “Send in the Clowns.

From the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in August of 2023, the show features performances by today’s established and rising stars. The 16th Annual ACM Honors includes performances from BRELAND and Keith Urban, Brandy Clark, Jordan Davis, Chris Janson, Lady A, Nelly, Carly Pearce, The War And Treaty, Trisha Yearwood, Brett Young, Bailey Zimmerman and more.

Rod Stewart – Live at Royal Albert Hall

Thursday, June 6, at 8pm on CET

Enjoy Rod Stewart’s various incarnations – Rod the Mod, Rod the Rocker, Rod the Crooner – in this special. In what amounts to a singalong with his adoring fans, the raw-voiced singer reprises selections from his long and fruitful career. The October 2004 performance marks Stewart’s first time at Royal Albert Hall in London.

The special features early Stewart material including “You Wear It Well,” “Reason to Believe” and “Maggie May.” Plus, good buddy, former bandmate and current Rolling Stone Ron Wood plays guitar on a couple of numbers, including “Stay with Me.” Other songs include “Hot Legs,” “The First Cut is the Deepest” and “You’re in My Heart.”

Chicago & Friends: Live at 55

Join the Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famers as they perform their greatest hits and are joined by special guests Steve Vai, Chris Daughtry, Robert Randolph, Robin Thicke, VoicePlay, Judith Hill, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram and more. Filmed in Atlantic City on a custom-built LED stage with over 18 4K cameras, the band plays songs from their double-Platinum debut album Chicago Transit Authority, in honor of its 55th anniversary. In addition to their biggest hits, the set also includes “unplugged” versions of some of Chicago’s classic tunes.
